No Certificate for Boiler Installation

Posted by Philip Walker, on
We had our boiler installed in 2012 by a family friend an ex gas engineer and his son who is training to be a gas engineer. The problem is we are thinking of selling our house but do not have the necessary paper work. What can I do?

Hi Philip A bit of a tricky one I'm afraid. A non Gas Safe registered installer can install a boiler if they are competent to do so but only in there own home. You may be able to find an installer who will take this job on and certify the job but it's a very grey area. If the warranty was not sent off for, you may struggle with this as this must be sent off within 30 days of the install. I would put an ad on ratedpeople.com if I was you explaining the situation. My advice for the future is to get someone in with the correct qualifications & paperwork. Best of luck Sam (eps)
