Moving a gas meter

Posted by James Turnbull, on
I've been told by my gas supplier that my gas meter is not far enough away from my electrical supply and fusebox. Does anyone know if there is a more affordable way through this as it is very expensive what they are charging? They will only move it 1 meter either side for free but no further. Also, how 'hazardous' is our set up? We've had all our electrics updated and brought up to regulation. It's just that the fusebox is quite close to the gas meter. If its extremely dangerous then I will look to move it immediately but if not then I would rather wait a few months to explore various options... Thanks for your time.

James the gas meter belongs to them. So if they want to move it let them pay for it. 60% of all gas meters I see are sitting next to electrical boxes. So I think you'll be ok in the meantime. It's just another case of big buisness robbing customers. All the best in your endeavours.....
