Megaflo Tank

Posted by Julie Lyons, on
Hi there, some honest advice please. I have Ideal Classic Boiler with Megaflo Tank in a 1st floor flat with 8 radiators total. Concrete floors, gas meter in garage directly below boiler. Fan keeps seizing in the boiler and needs replacing but as it was previously replaced 2 years ago I asked a few companies in (who have temporarily fixed the fan for a couple of weeks with WD40) and I suggested replacing whole system with combi boiler. The flat is now 11 years old, the external pump on the Megaflo tank has seized once before, the radiators don't get very hot, all 8 radiators are never hot together, been bled but doesn't seem to fix the issue. Last engineer (company was supposed to do unvented systems) suggested replacing fan, pump and all radiator valves as they said extremely expensive to replace with combi but now 'too busy' to do any work. Companies keep taking all the details but no responses, can't give my money away! Am I missing something? No response in 24 hours here either. Do I have a difficult set up? Any suggestions, ending up wasting a couple of weeks each time I get someone out. Should I try British Gas?

In the first instance I would be inclined to replace the fan in the Ideal boiler Then go about sorting out the megaflow which really is a separate issue . If the fan is replaced with a genuine part should last more than a few years . Be handy to know which Ideal boiler you have . Regards Robert Bennett Bennett Gas Services Ltd
