I have a ~5Kw multi-fuel stove ready for installation in a cleanish 2 story chimney in a period property.
I'm wondering if a lining is absolutely necessary or if it can be tested by smoke bomb and maybe just a cowl/plate fitted.
What conditions am I looking for to get away without having to get a liner fitted or is it an absolute requirements?
