Installation upheaval

Posted by Gabriella Breebaart , on
We are installing oil fired central heating in our house. How will this affect the original victorian floorboards that we use as flooring?

Hi Gabriella, it depends on the clearance below the floor boards. If there is enough room to crawl around then all of the work can be done below ground but it must be properly clipped and insulated. If there isn't enough room below the floor then the plumber will have to work from above which means cutting floor boards which may disturbe you nice Victorian flood. If you want a really pro job you could get a joiner or specialist flooring company to cut neat access hatches and that way there will be minimum of damage. It is fair to say that some plumbers can be rough in the way they tackle these jobs so best to qualify the process before letting them at it. Good luck.
