45 year old radiators. Replace or not

Posted by Verity Cheshire, on
Had system flushed out last year. Boiler played up after service by your repair plumbers last October. Some valves have been replaced but was told it needs a proper flush and new rads? Any views on this problem?

Hi Verity, after 45 years of service from your radiators i would suggest a change would be good aswel as a full powerflush after installation. Modern 'convector' type radiators are now much more efficient and will give you a far better heat output. A full powerflush with the addition of a central heating inhibitor will remove the majority of rubbish from your entire heating system and prevent it from becoming as contaminated in the future. I hope this advice helps. Regards Adam AR Plumbing & Heating.

Replace them, you should get a free flush as part of job. Also get a magnetic filter fitted for ongoing protection.
