Do i need a flue

Posted by Janet Peace, on
I have a class 1 chimney that has a liner fitted although it's not been used as I had a wall mounted flue less gas fire. I now want an inset gas fire but am getting different information. Some have said I can remove the liner and not replace it others have said I would need to replace it. Which is correct?

Hello, Best practice would be to change. Unless it can be deemed safe for the life of the new appliance. Life expectancy of liner 10-15 years. So my advice would be change, especially if you have no knowledge of how old it is or what fuel it had been used with before i.e. If it had been used with solid fuel etc it would need changed anyway.

What would you like to do now?
