Combi boiler trouble

Posted by Elsa , on
Central heating stopped working Wednesday, but no problem with hot water. Insurance company provided a plumber, who ran the boiler in service mode (?) and the heating came on fine. He said it needed a new diverter valve and I wouldn't have heating until he could replace it. Realised when he left that the heating was still on and the only way to turn it off was to turn the boiler off at the wall (control panel/thermostat made no difference). He returned on Friday and replaced the diverter valve. When he left the heating was on. I turned it off later and have not been able to turn it on again since. He is coming back tomorrow but I am struggling to have confidence, and the insurance company says I have to give him the opportunity to correct it (presumably because they don't want to pay someone else to do it). Any advice welcome. I am wondering if it might be the control panel rather than the diverter valve?

I would definitely give the engineer chance to rectify the faults, it is entirely possible that another fault could of occurred since his/ her visit

This could simply be a wiring Issue, or the zone valve could be stuck in the manually open position. I would give the engineer chance to rectify the problem first.
