Heating

Posted by Alan Green, on
We have an old heating system with boiler in the kitchen and cold water tank (plus expansion tank) in the loft with hot water cylinder in the airing cupboard. We are going away for a week in the new year so can we turn the mains water off but keep running the central heating as normal twice a day for a couple of hours at a time ?

Sounds like an old system heating installation. If old system it should only cause a problem if u had a leak on the heating system as when loosing water the small gravity tanks needs to replace its water like flushing a toilet. If direct from mains water then with a leak your boiler pressure would drop to zero & wouldn’t work. Both should not cause a problem unless a leak appears. Information based on information provided
