Cooker extractor fan starts up then dies...

Posted by Julie Weston, on
Hi. I have one house that is rented out (it was my home). This is the end of tenancy. The cooker hood wasn't working at all, fuse gone.having replaced the fuse, the lights work, and when switching on the extractor, I hear it start up, a whirring sound, but then it stops after a couple of seconds. I have tried it on all speeds, it's the same. Its starts, then stops. There was no filter present - I am asking the cleaners if they would have removed it. The left half under the hood seems 'greasier' than the right hand side (ie if I drop the cover)... I am unsure as to the best course of action. presumably an extractor fan is worth keeping as it must remove nasties from the air that otherwise might have adverse affects on the kitchen. I thank you in advance. oh, its a hotpoint, a visor type I think they call it. Julie
