Under floor heating

Posted by Garry Whitaker, on
A Kitchen fitter recently installed under floor heating onto a concrete flooring, then put under floor matting down, and the put the heating mat on top of the matting, then laid laminate flooring down, after 1 month the flooring is moving, and some have come loose, upon lifting the flooring up, there is lots of condensation on the matting and on the underside of the laminate flooring, any ideas?

Hi Garry I'm guessing that the underfloor heating is electric, is the concrete floor new? If it's new the moisture could be from the concrete floor as concrete takes a considerable amount of time to dry out properly or the other alternative is you have a leak somewhere which is pooling under the floor. Is the water in one area or all over? If it's in one area that's where you need to investigate, but it sounds like you need to get it all up as the moisture will affect the laminate boards. Call your fitter and ask him to come and have a look. Thanks.Ed
