Stainess steel sink has come unstuck...

Posted by Kevin Hall, on
I had a new kitchen quartz work top and stainless steel sink fitted a year ago. This week the sink has dropped an inch, leaving a gap between the sink and the worktop. The sink had been glued t the worktop underside using silicon, but no brackets or supports. I had questioned the fitter at the time but was told this was a standard way of fitting the sink. What is the best way to repair amd fix and ensure this doesnt re-occur please?

Hi Kevin I presume you are talking about an undermounted sink fitted to your quartz worktops- in response to the previous answer they don't come with brackets! It's common practice to secure them with just silicone but I always fit timber battens under the rim (secured across unit) to give additional support. You will find it difficult to fit battens now the worktops are fitted and all the plumbing is in place but it's worth a go. Dear Kevin By writing about brackets I meant that installer shoud use anything to support your sink such as brackets screwed underneath your cabinet to support sink. I do not fit wooden battons to support them I use brackets and clear silicone Just to clear my previous answer if you are in doubt Best regards Rafal

Hi Kevin If your fitter did not use brackets it means he was rubbish. Hole for a sink possibly is too large that's why droped down Please try to measure size of hole and sink if is smaller it means you will need larger sink Best regards Rafal
