Can the height of an existing kitchen worktop be raised?

Posted by Wendy Summers, on
I am in the process of buying a flat but the height of the existing worktop with built-in oven seems to be too low for my washing machine and a fridge. Can the height of the worktop, with cupboards underneath, be raised?

Hello Wendy, to answer your question, Yes the height of the worktop and base units can be increased, provided there are no wall tiles fitted down on top of the worktop, if there are tiles then these will need to be removed first. There should be a plinth fitted below the base units, which can be removed to expose either the plastic legs that support the base units or the sides of the units themselves, which can then be raised up and propped as required. Cheers Ian

Hi Wendy Everyone has knowledge to respond to a question but every trade person can do a job in different way. We always recomend to post a job on main website because some of a job needs to be seen bedore any advice is given. Our service is free of charge with no obligation quote and our tradesmans are happy to help with every aspects of jobs. I would strongly recomend to post a job on Rated People home page then 3 companies will get in touch then you would be able to choose the right person as you would receive an e mail with a link to tradesman account where you would see a pictures and you will read revious from previous customers. I hope this will help Best regards Rafal
