Kitchen cabinet door problem

Posted by Simon Comfort, on
One of my kitchen cabinet door assemblies needs repair or replacement. The actual wooden door is fine. However, since installation of the kitchen in my new flat about three years ago there has been a worsening problem with the metal 'bracket' for one particular door working its way loose out of the cabinet side wall. This is the bracket that the door hinge is attached on to. A handyman came to fix this last year by installing rawl plugs into the bracket's securing holes (in the cabinet chipboard) but these have since also worked their way out. There is seemingly a problem with the position of the hinge on the door which is causing the bracket to be slowly pulled out of the wood over time. I subsequently followed some advice to use Gripfill to fill the holes in the chipboard and secure the bracket. This has worked to some extent but the bracket is still being 'rocked' loose by the opening/closing action of the door hinge and the door is being held at an angle as a result of this slightly lose bracket. Not sure what the best solution to this is.
