Replace kitchen plastic "red switch" socket

Posted by Susan Marinakis, on
N my kitchen there is a red button (see picture) which "turns on" my gas hob, my oven and built-in microwave. It's normally the way you cut off power/gas to the appliances and in most kitchens/circumstances is usually left on BUT because my microwave won't turn itself fully off (but otherwise works fine), we have been using it as an on-off switch. The plastic bit is cracking and needs replacing. The underlying on/off bit works fine. Have listed this as a handyman job but am wondering whether I have mis-categorized and it needs an electrician, gas or kitchen expert. Also, can just the red plastic switch be changed or do you need to change the whole thing?

What would you like to do now?
