Induction hob position

Posted by Eliot , on
Hi, I’m buying a new build that’s still only at foundation level. Asked for hob upgrades and I’ve been told I can only have gas or ceramic due to the layout of the kitchen? The hob is located above a single under oven.

That is correct advice. Induction hobs require more ventilation than standard ceramic or indeed gas. If fitted directly above an undercounter oven the job is likely to overheat and fail in time. It seems ridiculous to say a hob (designed for cooking) can overheat but the more complicated electronics on induction hobs are vulnerable to external heat sources. Hope that helps.
