Floor to ceiling crack

Posted by James Cook, on
What would you recommend to repair a floor-to-ceiling crack on the first floor of our Edwardian House - the crack is at the top of the staris in the adjoining party-wall. It is approx 5mm wide in places and runs from the floor to ceiling. Removing wall paper revealed the crack and surrounding area had been skimmed by previous owners.

There could be a number of reasons for this crack if its cracked brickwork underneath fibre tape won't help for long it needs cut back and a metal mesh fixed over the crack and plastered over it might not need that you'd be better getting a good plasterer to asses it and give u a free quote

i would recommend cutting the plaster back to see if the brickwork is cracked and to repair if it is before replastering

What would you like to do now?
