Plastering

How do you plaster over an internal steel lintel when forming a new doorway

Hi Allen Get any spare timber say 2 x1 2x2 or even 3x2. Cut it so that it sits in the section of the steel beam as tightly as possible. Hammer it in till it's within the edge of the beam then nail your chosen plaster board to it. The underside can be covered with a piece of plasterboard cut to its width alowing a little each side to meet with the the board you have nailed on the side. Stick this on with dry wall adhesive. Be sure to clean any of this off your tools and the plasterboard. Stick some angle bead on the sieges then plaster it. Best of luck JC
