Plaster dado rail removal

Posted by michael kilby, on
I recently bought a house and moved in. the living room and entranceway walls have a plaster dado rail running around them, and there are various other plaster "additions" to the wall around light switches, plug sockets etc etc. Is it easy to remove this sort of thing without causing too much damage to the wall underneath? what sort of professional help should i be looking at getting to make sure i do not end up with ruined walls, roughly what would the fees be

depends what has been used to fix you should be able to remove using hammer & chisel then make good with a fine filler general maintenance or handyman would do this

Another tip would be to wet the adhesive that is still left on the wall once the dado has been removed as it often makes it easier to scrape off
