Crack in kitchen ceiling

Posted by Karen Hardie, on
I had a small 2" hairline crack in my kitchen ceiling and I've just noticed it has spread across the width of the room. The crack has not increased much in width, just in length. My previous upstairs neighbours did some DIY that resulted in water coming through the ceiling 2yrs ago near the window - so not the same place but nearby. I wonder if this could be the reason for the crack? My flat is in a 1970s purpose built block and I'm on the middle floor. I think I have concrete floors and the ceiling plastering is probably just skimming.

its probably cracked because of water leak then drying out if ceiling is still solid then the crack will just need fine filling

It is just movement there's not a lot to do to stop it just get fine filler , then sand down , shouldn't have nothing to do with water leak G, branch plastering
