dot and dab is the easiest way to repair walls well go over them to hide what's damaged,it can be patched use the same materials as previously used,this will take a good plaster rather than a skimmer
Plaster uneven tenement sandstone wall

Is drywall then skim correct approach for sandstone wall in tenement. Very uneven. If so, what best trade to do this job.
