How much would it cost to remove pebbledash from a Victorian Semi?

Posted by Amelia Gregory, on
I am considering the purchase of a Victorian Semi, and it has (quite recently I believe) been covered in pebbledash, as have the surrounding walls. Please could I have a quote (or rough idea of costs) for the removal of this and the repointing of the bricks? Presuming there are no other unforeseen issues. I can send links to show the house before and after pebbledash if required. Many thanks

There's a very good chance yu will damage the bricks trying to remove the pebble dash but sometimes it does come off easy . The newer it is the easier to remove it will be ... pointing doesn't come cheap but would have to see house for accurate quote but a 3 bed average semi would be 4-6000 in South Wales or 40-60£ a square metre

Hi Amelia, There is really only 1 reason to pebbledash a house. Brickwork is is either weathered too severely or there are large cracks due to subsidence or another structural fault usually water related. Look around the houses near by to see if it's a local problem, or isolated to this particular house. Depending on the brick, it's unlikely possible and very expensive or it would have been pointed to start with. Hope this helps
