Payment not correct

I applied on Rated people to have a stairs hand rail fitted that was fine. I also wanted a bedroom plastered, we agreed the price he wanted money up front for the building materials. I gave him half the money l agreed to pay the full bill when the job was done. When it was time to pay he asked for the full money, l explainec l gave you half, he said no that was for the building materials. He then took some money of the bill, l just paid they because l wasn't sure if l didn't how they would be with me. I feel a fool and very upset how can people treat customer's like this l feel sick not sleeping. I haven't told my family yet.

never ever do you pay up front.i am a plasterer and have been for 30 yrs and never have i asked for money up front.you need to complain to who ever you paid or take advice off someone.lesson learnt for the future.hope you get sorted.
