Over charging for his work

I feel such a fool. I gave this man £500.00 before he starter the job. To plaster a small bedroom, he said he needed the money for building materials. When it came to pay him he wanted more money l told him l paid £500.00. I felt very uncomfortable in the way he was with me. He had £1,500 from me l can't believe l gave him the money. Thd job he did was over priced plus he never gave me any receipts or a bill for the job. He knew l was upset because l had other job's l needed doing but l didn't want him. He offered to do a job fof free. I work hard for my money, he knows he has done wrong. I wouldn't like this to happen to anyone eles. I got this man from Rated People he can not be trusted. I am very upset and it has made me ill. How can this man get away with what he has done.
