Masonry paint will be fine. If the render is not blown badly damaged I would not have it re-rendered I would put a waterproof sealer on it before I painted

The exterior of our house is rendered but definitely needs re-painting as there are some areas that I think are becoming porous. Will it need to be rendered again as this is the case or will paint suffice? I imagine prices will contrast starkly.
