Plasterer lied

Posted by Tracey Fraser, on
I paid a plasterer £1320 for a new ceiling and coving. He damaged my upvc window sill that is only 3 months old, He lied on the rated people website and said he hadn't done it and then blamed my husband who used to be a painter and decorator but is now suffering from dementia. He was diagnosed with this horrendous disease 2 years ago and the tradesman concerned knew this as I had explained that it was a shame that he couldn't do the decorating himself. He then tried to blame me!! It wasn't until after he had left that I realised that he hadn't given me a receipt. I have tried to phone him to ask him to send it through the post but he won't answer my calls or texts. I am entitled to a receipt for the amount of money that I paid. What advice can you give me to make him give me the receipt and also warn others that he is not who he appears to be?

Hi Tracey, I'm sorry to hear this. This isn't the sort of behaviour we expect of our members. Our Customer Care team will be able to investigate this further for you. Please get in touch with them by emailing [email protected]. Additionally, you can leave a rating of the tradesperson to share your experience with others if you feel comfortable to do so. Hope this helps. Thanks, Alex Ask an Expert team
