Is it possible to remove 1930s pebbledash and expose brickwork?

My partner and I are in the process of buying a mid-terrace, 3-bedroom 1930s house that has deteriorated, ugly brown pebbledash front and back. We think it is the original pebbledash applied when the house was built as the pebbles have fallen off in many parts. Other houses on the street are either fully brick or half-pebbledash, half-brick and we wondered if it would be possible for us to remove the pebbledash from the front and back of the house? How expensive would this be, how long would it take and it it likely to result in a nice finish? Cheers, G
