Gillian, If you did not agree this Partition with him has part of work, then has previously advised get him to rectify situation in accordance with agreed terms. Unless I saw the room and job I could not say if it is wrong or right, you need to talk to fitter and both of you come to an understanding. Remember all of this hinges on did you authorise this work, had it been discussed with and was it part of the job description. If you say yes to any of these then you have recall on the fitter. But if you had a job description and he has veered from that and added this partitioning without prior approval then you can insist on work being completed as per agreed job description and you can withhold part of the payment until Job is completed has per agreed Terms.
