Do I need to re-new old pipes/plumbing?

I want to renovate a bathroom which seems to still have the original 1960's pipes/plumbing system. Is it OK to connect new fixtures to plumbing that old or should it all be renewed as part of the renovation? Please can you let me know. Thanks
