DO I PAY FOR WORK UP FRONT OR WAIT UNTIL ITS COMPLETED

I HAVE HAD AN ESTIMATE FOR PLUMBING WORK AND HE WOULD LIKE HALF THE MONEY UP FRONT A WEEK BEFORE WORK COMMENCES IS THIS PROPER PRACTICE? OR SHOULD I PAY WHEN WORK IS COMPLETED? THANK YOU

Tony, I would only ever for ask for money is for materials and usually I would get the items delivered on day I start work and then get the customer to write a cheque out to my merchants for the goods (then the items belong to you). If the job was going to take less than 2 weeks I would not ask for any labour until work completed. If it was longer than 2 weeks then I might ask for interim payments at agreed completion of work stages (which you can verify and see completed). But I would still expect that 25% of labour amount will be paid upon completion of work (e.g. end of job). Bill Pipe Dreams Plumbing Services Bournemouth

Hi Tony It depend what agreement yiu have made with your trade person. Most of the time trades ask for payments up front for materials and then final payment when job is completed I hope this can help Regards Rafal
