Sewer smell

Just noticed a sewer gas type smell (may not be - smells rotten and/or like sewer gas) in my basement bedroom of a 3 BR flat in N5. I can trace the smell origin to the room, but cannot find out where exactly it is coming from. I need help finding the root cause of the smell - does someone have a recommendation?
