Low hot water pressure

Posted by Sonia Paul, on
We have an issue with rather low hot water pressure on the top floor of our house (and that's where the main bathroom is). It's a three storey building and the hot water tank is currently located on the middle floor, next to the boiler. Our understanding is that the previous owner has moved the tank from the top floor there. The issue seems to also exist for central heating - while the radiators on the two lower floors are getting really hot, we can barely get the top floor ones to heat up. I would like to get at least some rough ideas of possible solutions to those issues and if this is likely to be a big job.

It sounds like you'll need a suitable pump fitted for the hot water. Pumps range in price dependant on quality and can run off a normal socket. The central heating could be out of balance, or the central heating pump needs updating. Try a chemical clean and re-balance first. You will probably need an engineer to make a house call to assess if it is a big job or not.
