New boiler or Service?

Posted by Max Gia, on
I have a Worcester 24i. It is about 13, possibly 14 years old. It works fine but sometimes the water takes longer to reach the right temperature (boiler-shower only 2 metres apart, takes 2-3 minutes). Should I replace with a new boiler? or service it? Service has not been done for 8 years! would maybe replacing burners, injectors... improve and no need for a new boiler?

I would recommend a service. If your boiler is reaching the temperature eventually it sounds like it is working ok but the heat exchanger is heavily limescaled. The limescale is absorbing alot of the initial heat given out by the heat exchanger. A service will expose any parts that require attention. Post a job on rated for a heating engineer to quote for a service.
