Leaking ceramic disk tap

Posted by Simon Longshaw, on
Hi, Is it possible to replace a ceramic disk on a kitchen tap rather than the full tap assembly. The ceramic disc seems to be giving an intermittent leak on the mixer tap. Thanks

Hi simon Don't waste your money on trying to replace the ceramic disc I'm sorry to say the state of affairs and reality means it's far cheaper and more reliable to install a new tap. And yes ensure isolation valves are installed at the same time if not already fitted. Shaun

Hi Simon It's absolutely posable to renew the disc for your tap. If they are top of the range then you need the make to order the disc if not then you can purchase them any plumbers merchants. Regards. Steve.

Hi Simon Yes it is possible but it depends on the make and model of the tap as prices will vary for the ceramic disc. Some have been known to cost £70-80 plus labour of around £60-70. Might be cheaper and less hassle to just replace the tap itself. If you decide to have a new tap installed make sure the installer installs isolation valves on the pipe work if they are not present. yes it is. a little tricky to do, and as taps vary so much, i cannot tell you the precise procedure without seeing the tap
