Leaking ceiling

Posted by Rebecca , on
We've got a leak coming through our bathroom ceiling. Upstairs is a different flat. We've had to get an electrician to remove a light fitting as water was dripping through it so now there's an open hole in the ceiling. Water pours through for about 5 minutes at a time every 2-3 days. Water appears clear and directly above is a kitchen. Do you think the entire ceiling needs replacing? Could you give a rough approximation of how much it could be to fix this in central London?

Hi Rebecca I would suggest to get in touch with occupant from above flat first and ask them to repair a leak then post your job on main website to obtain a quote from 3 companies so you will be confident how much to expect to spend on ceiling repair. I would suggest to get them to pay for your damage as wate comes from above flat Best regards Rafal

Hi Rebecca . I suggest to replace whole ceiling . Why ? If you have plasterboard ceiling water make it weak . There is risk of fungus if water dropping longer . If you make decision to replace ceiling you have easy access to wire and you can replace it if necessary ( do it before new plaster ceiling ) . Cost depend of tradesman , materials and size of ceiling . I suggest to use waterproof plasterboard . More expensive but in case next drop water you can avoid extra cost . regareds Bogdan PROTON London K&C phone zero seven five one five two six one five eight two
