TRV's.. Flow or return or doesnt matter?

Posted by Gag Sopal, on
Hi, which side of the rad should the TRV go? I've just bought some from Screwfix and the tee/elbow which the Thermostat fits on to has arrows in both directions.. Is it bi-directional? Should the TRV definitely go on the flow and not the return?

Hi Gag If the valves you have have arrows pointing in both directions then they will be bi-directional. Therefore they can go on at either end of the radiator. The TRV will work the same regardless which side it is on. Hope this helps. Sam (eps)

Hi Gag Most modern TRV's can be fitted on either end (flow or return) and can be mounted either horizontal or vertical. I still fit them on the flow (pipe that gets hot first) unless the flow to the rad is in a tight corner. Most valves will have an arrow on the body of the valve indicating direction of flow into the valve. Hope this helps Regards Rafal
