Need to fit a shower pump

Posted by Alan Insley, on
Need to fit a shower pump on a gravity fed system. Shower and hot water tank are on the same floor. Can I fit a pump in the loft, where the water tank is?? Thanks.

Hi Alan, The answer is yes you can, however I'll strongly advice calling a plumber for technical advice. Apart from distance to tank there are other factors need considering: 1. positive head or negative head - this must be assessed by a specialist 2. what size pump - 1.5 , 2 or 3 bar, the bigger the output the better the flow rate and pressure, however you need to consider how quickly the water tank and cylinder will run out dry 3. single impeller or twin impeller 4. what type of shower valve is there in place A qualified and experienced plumber will be able to answer those questions and make the right recommendations, or you can do some research and find out for yourself. Regards, Marian

Hi Alan Yes you can but you need make sure that distance between pump and CWSC is min 600 mm and air vents are fitted to both Cold and hot water outlets on your pump. I would recommend to post a job on main website because some of a job needs to be seen before any advice is given. Our service is free of charge with no obligation quote and our tradesmans are happy to help with every aspects of jobs. If you post a job on Rated People home page then 3 companies will get in touch then you would be able to choose the right person as you would receive an e mail with a link to tradesman account where you would see a pictures and you will read previous from previous customers. I hope this will help Best regards Rafal
