Loo flushes, but "returns"!

Posted by Helen Anderton, on
Our main bathroom loo is a good quality B C Sanitan one. When fitted a few years ago it was fine for ages. However, for the last year or so it has been making its presence felt in a most embarrassing way! It seems to flush perfectly, everything disappears, and the water left in the pan is clean. However, when "solids" have been flushed, after an hour or so some "solids" can reappear, or else they are obviously trapped in the U bend, so that the water in the pan gradually darkens as they dissolve!! As you can appreciate this is not something one wants to happen when guests are staying! A plumber has looked at it and says it is flushing fine (we knew that) - we have even had the soil pipe re-routed, in case there was insufficient fall between loo and vertical soil pipe, but the problem keeps "reappearing"! Has anyone any suggestions as to what might be causing this? - the water is flushing away fine, so there appears to be no blockage - we are baffled.
