Stagnant water smell in kitchen

Posted by Hitesh Rawal, on
We had a ground floor extension built approximately a year ago. Recently we have been getting a smell of stagnant water emanating from one of the kitchen units near the sink and bolier area. The drain for the kitchen sink has been blocked a couple of times previously and the builder has come round and unblocked it. The smell on that occassion was nowhere near as bad as now and was definitely coming from the sink plpug hole. That was also a sewage style smell and this is more stagnant water. The current smell is also coming from a unit adjacent to the sink unit (under the boiler) We have used copious amounts of drain unblocker etc and the outside drain is not blocked. I have checked the sink pipes and there are no leaks. I have checked under the units to see if there is any leaking water and it is dry. There seems to be no explanation as to where the smell is coming from? What could it be? Regards and thanks
