Hi Sam. Your back boiler is probably very reliable but will not be very efficient when it comes to running costs. With any new boiler installed now, it has to be a band A rated boiler. You may also consider changing the system to a combination boiler. This will remove your hot water cylinder and provide as much hot water as you need, only heating what you actually use. From all the conversions I've done, my customers have all been very happy with the changes and have noticed the changes in their gas bills. Hope this helps. Regards Kevin K W Heating
It all depends on how your existing heating is working if it is working ok i always advise my customers to just keep using any boiler over 10years but don't spend any money on it as soon as something breaks replace the whole boiler. You will get a gas saving from the new combi as it will be condensing also it only heats the water you use not wasting gas on keeping a tank of water hot.
