External stop tap working or not?

Posted by Jane Holdsworth, on
My internal stop tap is well and truly seized and need various plumbing jobs doing. I have tried to turn off the external one but doesn't appear to work either. Not sure if I'm turning it far enough though but don't want to force anything either! Any suggestions? Would a plumber come out to check it or do I need to contact Yorkshire Water?

Hi Jane I would suggest to contact yorkshire Water as it is their responsibility to keep mains water stop tap in good working order if it' s outside your boundary etc. I have had so many issues with sized mains water stop taps and YW always helped with it. Just simply phone them saying that you have a leak inside your property but stop cock in house do not work so you can not shut water off. In a main time they will send an engineer who will tell you what they will do. I hope this can help Regards Rafal
