I have an airlock in my hot water pipes

Posted by Alex Chappel, on
I have an airlock in my hot water pipes that so far no builder or plumber has successfully fixed. I am 95% sure it is an airlock because I have done some research and this exact problem is described as being quite common. However, it's the solution that is the issue as there appears to be many different factors depending on the exact set-up of my plumbing. What happens is, after running a bath, the hot water in the kitchen mixer tap slows to a dribble and then stops. It is then temporarily solved by forcing cold water down the pipe until it stops gurgling, until the next day when I have to do it all over again. One plumber said it was sludge in the system but I have zero confidence in this explanation frankly, mainly because the problem is too predictable and constant. It never changes, always happens, and has never got better or worse in over a year. He tried putting a hoover through the system but it made absolutely no difference whatsoever to anything. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
