Nightly drumming noise by stopcock

We have recently replaced our electric boiler, since then I have noticed a frequency in nights where the drumming occurs. The noise occurs between 1am and 5am and can last all night or be intermittent. It occurs nearest the stop cock, and the will only relent when a tap is running, however leaving a tap running all night is not the solution. I would like to know whether this is a common issue in a flat and what the likely remedy is?
