Plumbing connectors for plastic barrier pipe

Posted by Savrina Carrizo, on
Hello! We have started installing a concealed valve shower and before we tile over the wall and lose access to the pipework we would like to check that we have used the correct connectors for plastic pipe. Are compression fittings with copper olives ok? Are brass compression fittings ok? (have read different things online). Thank you! Details: - From the concealed valve inlets/outlets we have flexible hoses with PTFE taped threads; no leaks - The flexible hoses join to plastic pipe (with plastic inserts) via compression fittings (with copper olives); no leaks - Then we have one brass tee in the hot pipe (plastic pipe with plastic inserts) that sometimes feels a little wet while running water through the bathroom system but not once taps turned off) - Are there any bonding issues we should get electrician in for this set up?

Hi Savrina, yes both copper and brass olives are fine and interchangeable. Make sure the tiles will leave you enough room to fit the pipes once you finish the tiling by setting it up dry. Also pressure test the pipework by blanking it off first. If in doubt get a qualified plumber. Good luck.
