I recently noticed a bluey damp patch on the wallplaster behind a chest of drawers
in our main bedroom.
The CH in our flat has wall mounted, above skirting 15mm pipework supported at regular intervals.
The damp patch in question is adjacent to where 2 pipes enter the wall separating the main bedroom & lounge, the wall being of plastered breeze block
construction.
The pipes are bare, i.e. are not taped or sleeved which was a serious oversight by the installation plumber in 2009 (Darren Paine, A & G Gas, if you're still around & looking) who put the system in.
I exposed the pipes to reveal 4 soldered joints, 2 bends in each pipe as the pipes wind in a S shaped bend from one room to the other.
So the question is:
What is the solution to repairing the leak which I believe is from the one or more of the soldered joints.
I want to remove the jointed bends from inside the wall and so remove the possibility of this happening again.
Is it possible to drain the system, cut the pipes both sides of the wall & connect with say a bending, flexible plastic pipe.
Alternatively, external bends could be provided in both rooms with a straight connecting copper pipe between the 2 rooms.
I can provide photographs of both sides of the wall & the exposed pipes via email if required.
Thanks
