I am wanting to change a macerator toilet

Posted by Sally Parker-Jones, on
Hi I have just been told that my macerator toilet unit has had it, I’ve inherited it and have had a lot of issues with it, I have been told I can change it for a normal toilet, but didn’t men keep telling us different things about the soil pipe, one says it can stay, another will say you need to replace the complete thing, sadly I planned on doing this last year but with all the different info given we are unsure which way to go, does anyone have a clear solid advice please.

Hello Yes would need to inspect it fully to give an accurate answer but it will depend on how the waste is carried away- if its a large diameter pipe (4") then you should be able to change it for a normal toilet, if the pipework is small bore (22, 32 or 40mm) and/or goes a long way hozizontally or vertically then it will need to be a macerator type. Best plan would be to post the job with some images and get some quotes.
