My toilet is constantly trickling water

Posted by jeremy statham, on
Its trickling into the pan constantly.ivved taken the fitting out and turned the washer over and it looks ok.slightly discoloure but not perished at all and then pushed it back into slot and twisted about 90 degrees.it sounds like its stopped for a while then starts trickling again.is it the washer or something else.theres no distinguishing marks on the toilet or the fittings inside the cistern so dont know where to get the washer from if thats all it is.

Hi jeremy, Good to always check the washer on your siphon but if water is still trickling into the pan then i suggest the water inlet valve needs changing. This does the job of an old 'ballcock' and if its not shutting off completely it will continue to fill the cistern, gradually raising water level above that of the internal overflow level. I would always recommend a plumber for this work rather than attempting yourself. I hope this helps solve your issue.
