Radiators heating when hot water on - not a valve issue

Posted by S Anonomous, on
Hi there. We currently have an issue (just moved into a house) where when we turn the hot water on, it goes to the radiators as well and they all heat up. We believe a radiator has been installed on the hot water return line - based on what various plumbers have told us. As this would involve ripping up carpet and floor etc we have just laid, we have been told we could install a Combi boiler and this would resolve the problem, is that right?

Sorry to go against what James has answered But I think fitting a combination boiler would solve this issue All the heating flow and returns would go through the heating side of the combi The domestic hot water pipes would all be connected to that side of the boiler and your mains cold water would feed all the cold water outlets

No changing to a combi boiler wont fix it if the rad is on the hot water circuit (unless they change this piping as part of the install).... if it has been put on the wrong piping and its under flooring etc then flooring will have to come up im afraid.
