Would you recommend a vertical column radiator for a long open kitchen

Our kitchen is big and long, has lots of windows and leads onto a conservatory that is freezing in winter. The kitchen only has one small radiator and we want to upgrade to a vertical one which emits more heat into the space. I have calculated the BTU but websites online are recommending standard horizontal radiators for what is needed (really long ones that we don't have space for!) Could we still go with the vertical type as we have a lot of wall space that could accommodate a big radiator? Thanks.
