Service of unvented hot water cylinder

Posted by Angela Gibson, on
How much should I expect to pay for this to be done and does the engineer have to have any specific qualifications etc? There is a 'leak' from the tank but not dripping but needs to be sorted out

we charge 55.00 inc vat for an unvented cylinder service as for qualifications this is a bit of a contentious area as G3 of the building regulations state you need to be qualified for the installation of any unvented storage vessel with a capacity of more than 15 litres, but is doesn't mention that this qualification must be held to service or maintain them. So its is my opinion that you dont need any particular qualification to service the appliance as long as you follow the manufacturers service instructions but you can go wrong in stipulating the company you use has the G3 qualification. to play it safe we only send such qualified engineers to service unvented cylinders.
